Kapiti Coast direct from Auckland
Air New Zealand subsidiary Air Nelson will begin direct 70-minute flights between Auckland and the Kapiti Coast’s Paraparaumu airport later this year. Starting Labour Weekend, Air Nelson will operate its 50-seat Bombardier Q300 aircraft on three return flights a day during the week, and three return flights over the weekends.
If demand warrants it, the airline says it will boost frequencies. A big spend is already under way to resurface PPQ’s runway and upgrade its lighting and navigation aids, and to construct a new terminal and add a car park. Airport owner Sir Noel Robinson was delighted that after five years of RMA negotiations and other regulatory processes the airport redevelopment plans were now well under way. Sir Noel says the first stage of the Airport’s Kapiti Landing Business Park is on track. “I am absolutely thrilled that this vision for Kapiti will now become a reality.”
