A former Emirates A380 captain has won a long-running legal battle to buy Waiheke Island’s only airfield. Neil Greer, who was a pilot for the Dubaibased airline for 16 years, has won consent from the Overseas Investment Office to buy the 8.96 hectare property for $2.6 million The Neil Greer Developments Trust application satisfied the OIO’s national interest test because the new owner’s plans include further development and creation or retention of jobs, according to a summary released by the office.Read the full post
P&O Cruises has announced a major refurbishment of the Brisbane-based Pacific Dawn, to be completed in APR12. A range of standard cabins will be converted to become interconnecting rooms – ideal for families – while the ship’s 50 suites and minisuites will be upgraded with new furnishings and carpets along with artwork by Sydney photographer Tony Rae. Pacific Dawn will also emerge from its scheduled dry dock with a state-of-the-art LED Big Screen, a feature which has proved a big hit on sister ships Pacific Jewel and Pacific Pearl.Read the full post

Princess Cruises has announced it will have its biggest April to November season in 2013, including a record three world
cruises with two featuring an Auckland disembarkation.The Sea Princess and Sun Princess will offer New Zealand holidaymakers a cruise with an Auckland disembark, and will go on sale next Friday 16DEC. Passengers also have the option of a 90-day world cruise out of Sydney.
